The Customer is a UAE-based fintech startup focused on developing innovative payment products.

Challenge

The Customer wanted to step into the fast-evolving Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) market by offering a BNPL web platform and a mobile application for shoppers. The solutions were aimed to provide consumers with a convenient online environment to make interest-free split payments for digital and in-store purchases.

The Customer jump-started the product development using its in-house IT resources. However, they became insufficient due to the lack of necessary tech skills, and the team failed to meet the required project pace. To speed up the product’s time-to-market and optimize the development process, the Customer was looking for an IT consulting and team augmentation services provider with a vast talent pool and expertise in payment apps development.

Solution

Within just 2 weeks, ScienceSoft provided the Customer with all the required tech competencies to fill the in-house skill gap. ScienceSoft’s talents smoothly fit into the Customer’s development process and corporate culture, so the Customer decided to involve them in the long-term collaboration on the project. During the subsequent 2 years of ongoing cooperation, ScienceSoft’s team has been engaged in the following activities:

Front-end development

ScienceSoft’s front-end developers helped implement essential UX and UI components to provide smooth consumer journeys across the web platform. The team opted for responsive UX and UI design to ensure the web solution adapted well to mobile browsers. Also, ScienceSoft’s talents took part in developing built-in widgets for merchants’ ecommerce platforms and creating UIs for merchants and BNPL platform admins.

Back-end development

Working closely with the Customer’s back-end development team, ScienceSoft’s Java developers helped create the web platform’s back end according to the Customer’s requirements. Within the task scope, the team introduced QR-code-based payment functionality for quicker transfer of due amounts.

Quality assurance

ScienceSoft’s automation testing expert advised the Customer’s in-house team on best suited QA automation tools. The expert applied DevOps approach to help the team establish the iterative front-end and back-end testing process to fit the pace of frequent releases.

IT project management consulting

Over the course of the project, ScienceSoft added a project manager (a Scrum master) to the Customer’s IT team for project assessment and consulting on resource management. Our expert audited the project scope, analyzed the demand for resources, their availability, and advised on optimal resource allocation.

ScienceSoft’s team maintained consistent, goal-driven collaboration throughout the project and provided transparent reporting on the accomplished tasks. Upon the successful launch of the BNPL web platform, the Customer proceeded with building a BNPL mobile app. The company has recently involved ScienceSoft’s mobile development talents to speed up the development process.
